- Destination: S-Bahn Gruiten in Haan-Gruiten
This stage leads through the elongated Ittertal valley, past relics of past craftsmanship. Narrow paths wind along historic "cottages" – once homes and workshops where waterwheels powered forge fires and hammer mills. Soon, the Caspersbroich moated castle appears. The manor house, made of natural stone, is complemented by an adjacent half-timbered building. Today, the listed building houses condominiums. The trail follows the Klingenpfad (Knives Path), named after Solingen's famous knife and blade industry. The trail finally comes full circle in Gruiten, where the first stage of the neanderland STEIGs begins.
