Traces of historical life and work

This stage leads through the long Itter Valley, past remnants of bygone craftsmanship. Narrow paths wind alongside historic "Kotten" – once combined dwellings and workshops where waterwheels powered forges and hammer mills. Soon, Caspersbroich Castle comes into view. The manor house, built of natural stone, is complemented by an adjacent half-timbered building. Today, the listed building houses condominiums. Here, the trail follows the Klingenpfad (Blade Trail) for a stretch, named after Solingen's famous knife and blade industry. Finally, the loop closes in Gruiten, where the first stage of the neanderland STEIGs begins.
