Whether in summer, when the heather is in full bloom, or year-round as a place to relax and breathe fresh air, the Ohligs Heath is the perfect starting point for this stage. It invites hikers to explore expansive forest and cultivated landscapes and traverse part of the Bergisches Heideterrasse. Shortly after, the Hilden Heath follows, characterized by rolling hills and extensive forest areas. Here, the 106-meter-high Sandberg rises, offering a sweeping view of Hilden. Along the way, the trail passes the Solingen Bird and Animal Park, home to around 300 animals from about 80 different species – from wild cats to kangaroos.
