Sand dunes in neanderlandAbsolutely! But first, the route leads to the Further Moor nature reserve, where bog asphodel, sundew, and reeds thrive, creating a rare flora. Next, the trail continues to the Leichlingen Sand Hills, part of the Bergische Heideterrassen (Bergisch Heath Terraces). Their fine sand once served the local industry as molding sand for metal production. From sand to water: At the historic moated castle Haus Graven, the facade made of massive stone blocks is impressive, while the ivy-covered courtyard creates a special atmosphere. In the Ohligser Heide (Ohligs Heath), the heather blooms in shades of purple in late summer. And animal "gardeners" are also at work here: Sheep and goats naturally keep the landscape short.
