Large cities in the distance, shimmering lakes nearby – this stage combines impressive panoramas with idyllic nature. The trail first leads up to the heights of the Düssel floodplain, where rare animal species such as the goshawk, the Daubenton's bat, and the common frog live hidden away. From there, a sweeping view opens up across the Rhineland to the Düsseldorf skyline and Cologne Cathedral. Hikers are then treated to a picturesque lake district with the Unterbacher See, Elbsee, and Menzelsee. At the Unterbacher See, a small harbor, beaches, and boat rentals invite you to a relaxing break with a vacation atmosphere during the warmer months. The Elbsee, on the other hand, provides a habitat for numerous bird species.
