Off to the Düssel Valley to discover slate, a biotope, and a manor house. The starting point is the historic village of Gruiten with its half-timbered and slate houses, charmingly crooked and adorned with green shutters, nestled among gnarled trees. Pit 7 is not only a nature reserve but a true natural treasure. The former limestone quarry is now a refuge and biotope for birds, amphibians, and butterflies. At Schöller Manor, ivy and legends twine around the castle walls and keep. The massive building, constructed from large stone blocks, is one of the oldest secular buildings in the area and is a listed historical monument.

Due to construction work to replace three bridges in the Düssel Valley, a section of the hiking trail near Ehlenbeck in Haan will be closed from March 30th until the end of July. A detour will be signposted. We appreciate your understanding.
