The discovery loop “Senderberg & Kletterwald” leads from the 4th stage of the neanderland STEIGs to Velbert-Langenberg - one of the best preserved small-town historic town centers in NRW.
The town, built into the hillside, offers a picturesque view of winding streets, whose lovingly furnished houses, shops and bars with cozy outdoor restaurants invite you to linger. You can explore the old town and learn and discover many interesting details on both a hike and a guided city tour.

The landscape around Velbert-Langenberg is actually reminiscent of the Alps with its partly natural, partly agricultural meadows, deep valleys and fantastic panoramas.

If you look up at the heights towards Langenberg, you will see the WDR transmission masts. The Langenberg transmitter went into operation on January 15, 1927. Since then it has been the landmark of the Senderstadt and gave the Hordtberg, as the height is actually called, the new name Senderberg.
