The hiking route runs between the center of the garden city and the Gruiten district, which has belonged to Haan since 1975. It offers great far-reaching views, paths over agricultural land, idyllic meadows with old farmsteads and typical Haaner creek valleys characterize the picture. The crossing of the representative and modern commercial area represents an exciting contrast to this. A tightrope walk between city and nature!

The hike begins at the Gruiten train station and initially leads uphill to the technology park, Haan's most modern commercial area, which impresses with its modern architecture and green recreational areas. Through Kriekhausen, one of the oldest court settlements in Haan, we continue on a dirt road to the other side of the autobahn.

A narrow trail now leads through the picturesque valley of the Hühnerbach, which at 7.151 meters is the longest stream in Haan. The city center of Haan is reached a short time later. A wide range of shops and places to stop for refreshments invite you to take a relaxing break.

Via Ellscheider Straße, you will pass the Horstmannsmühle, where there is a gallery with arts and crafts. On field paths past Oben Klophausen, a magnificent view opens up.

In Ellscheid it is worth stopping at the Gut Ellscheid farm shop before continuing along Ellscheider Strasse to Elp, a small farm settlement. Now the hiking route opens up again and offers a magnificent view in the direction of Erkrath.

The observatory, where stargazing is possible, appears to the left of the hiking route. On to Frinzberg and down into the Lindenbecker Bachtal, the path now meets the Kalkspuren discovery loop and gives a brief impression of the time of limestone quarrying in this region.

Once you have arrived at the starting point, you can take a stroll through Bahnstraße with its nice, owner-managed shops.
