Discovery Loop Evolution Path

The starting point of the "Evolution Path" discovery loop is the beautiful Mettmann train station from 1879, today the "Mettmann Stadtwald" Regiobahn stop. From there it goes through the city forest along the Goldberger Teich and the Goldberger Mühle towards the center.

In the historic upper town, which is dominated by the Lambertus church on the market square, there are many historic buildings to discover, such as the old mayor's office, which houses the city history house. Hikers can fortify themselves in one of the numerous bars before they reach the Neandertal along the gently babbling Mettmanner Bach on the evolution path that illuminates the development history of the city, the region and the valley.

Be fascinated by the bison, tarpans and aurochs in the Ice Age game reserve. Parallel to the Düssel, which winds through the valley, the path continues towards Haan-Gruiten on the first section of the route neanderland STEIGs back to the starting point.
