Windrath Chapel

Church
In addition to its importance as a religious retreat, the Windrath Chapel is a popular destination for discovering the picturesque surroundings of Velbert and the history of the region.
The Windrath Chapel probably dates from the 8th century or the beginning of the 9th century and was built on the site of a pagan place of worship as a result of the missionary work of St. Swidbert from England. The bell that still exists in the chapel may date back to the Middle Ages. In 1833, the chapel received its first organ with 3 registers on an organ platform above the two pillars. The chapel now belongs to the Evangelical Church of Velbert-Langenberg. Today, people like to get married here - and hikers take a rest here.
