Wilhelm Fabry, born in Hilden in 1560, is regarded as the founder of modern surgery in Germany. In the museum named after him, visitors immerse themselves in the world of medical history, which can be experienced with the help of numerous of his books and historical surgical instruments. The collection is supplemented by numerous exhibition activities on the subject of "medicine in art", which provide further insights into medical-historical topics in a unique way.
The "Vogelsang Steam Grain Distillery" is located on the same site, the heart of which is the steam engine built in 1887. Here, guests can experience the - today electrically operated - steam engine in action during guided tours through the current exhibition and understand the entire production process from the delivery of the grain to the drinkable grain. Children and young people can borrow original works of art in the children's art library or, on request, immerse themselves in the world of art through picture reviews, painting activities or guided tours of exhibitions.
