Oerkhaussee bird watching station

nature board/information point
Nature reserve/natural monument
The nature reserve at the Oerkhaussee in Hilden is now a habitat for rare animal and plant species.
At the bird observation station on the side of the path, hikers have a beautiful view of the lake and a valuable ecosystem that serves as a habitat for a large number of birds. Inside the observation station, two panels provide information about the nature reserve and the birdlife found there. Before the Oerkhaussee was created, there was a birch forest on the drained swamp area. The area is more than 25 hectares in size and is protected in particular because of its good biotope development opportunities.
