Ratingen Museum

museum/exhibition
The Ratingen Museum houses the municipal art collection with over 700 different paintings, drawings, graphics and sculptures.
The focus of the modern collection, which shows a strong connection to the surrounding landscape, are sculptures and various works of modern art from the post-war period to the present.

A visit to the redesigned cultural-historical permanent exhibition, which sheds light on the development and history of the city of Ratingen, is also worthwhile. The classicist old building of the museum is dedicated to the Ratinger model master Johann Peter Melchior and shows his porcelain collection in impressive size. Born in 1747 in today's Lintorf district, Melchior is one of the most important porcelain modellers between the Rococo and Enlightenment periods.

Regularly changing special exhibitions on various art topics round off the permanent exhibitions. Children discover the art and town history of Ratingen on age-appropriate tours and individual workshops.
