Further Moor

Nature reserve/natural monument
Moor
Further Moor – a fascinating nature reserve that is part of the Bergische Heideterrasse.
The Further Moor extends over 40 hectares and is home to a rich flora and fauna. Protected and sensitive, the area is not accessible to visitors, but there are numerous opportunities to enjoy the impressive nature all around.

The central moor area of around four hectares is impressive due to its botanical diversity. Valuable species such as narrow-leaved cotton grass and bell heather thrive here. The woodcock finds a protected habitat in the moor, and well-developed moor birch swamp forests adorn the landscape along the Blockbach stream. The proximity to the A3 motorway reinforces the contrast between modern infrastructure and unspoilt nature.

Visitors can explore the beauty of the surrounding meadows and forests on the surrounding hiking trails without entering the protected moor itself. The hiking car park on the Bergische Landstraße is an ideal starting point to experience the original landscape of the Further Moor.
