Bismarck Tower Velbert

Viewpoint/lookout tower
Since 1906, the 28-meter-high Bismarck Tower on Velbert's Hordtberg has offered a magnificent view of the region.
Built by the Langenberg Transport and Beautification Association, it was officially opened in April 1906. A quarry was opened on the Hordt specifically for the construction and the tower was built using the association's own basalt stones. The tower has a floor plan of 8 x 8 meters. Inside, 83 stone steps and 54 steps of an iron spiral staircase lead up to the round plateau.
A restaurant was added and is still in use today, where visitors can refresh themselves after climbing the tower. Since 2009, there has also been a forest climbing park and a mini golf course on the Hordtberg, which, along with the Bismarck Tower, are attractive destinations for active people and families.
