It is erected in close proximity to the banks of the Rhine and houses an interactive museum that gives children and adults exciting insights into life on board and eel fishing.
Catching and smoking eels was an important industry in the city on the Rhine for a long time. The Baumberg district in the north of Monheim with its many small former fishermen's houses and smokehouses is evidence of this.
After extensive restoration work, the listed exhibition ship named "Fiat Voluntas" is now ready for visitors eager to explore. In addition to numerous original exhibits, there are two very special highlights in the Eel Fishing Museum: A talking book and a talking pot tell exciting stories about everyday life on an eel fishing boat and provide insights into the life of the people in Monheim am Rhein at that time. The Eel Fishing Museum is part of the Monchronik.
