Welcome to neanderland

The neanderland is situated in the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, at the gates of the metropolises along the rivers Rhine and Ruhr, and the Bergisches Land. Its name stands for tourism and culture in the district of Mettmann, which encompasses the towns of Erkrath, Haan, Heiligenhaus, Hilden, Langenfeld, Mettmann, Monheim am Rhein, Ratingen, Velbert and Wülfrath. The valley that lends its name to the neanderland is where the skeleton of the Neanderthal man was found in the 19th century. The discovery of the most famous native of the region is the main focus of the exceptional Neanderthal Museum next to the place of discovery. The region around the world-famous valley has become an attractive destination for nature-lovers, fans of culture, recreationists and active travellers of all ages.
