NRW Poetry Slam 2026 | Preliminary Round Wülfrath
The preliminary round of the biggest Poetry Slam state championship of all time!
The participants had a year to qualify; 72 of them made it to the next round. neanderland Success! Twelve teams have made it to the spectacular preliminary round in Wülfrath. Qualification for the NRW Championship is secured; now it's time to show what they can do and reach the semi-finals!
And all this at the city's most important cultural venue – the WüRG eV! A place of music for over 30 years. A place where big names got their start. With heartfelt dedication, the WüRG eV remains a loyal supporter of young talent – and now it's the venue for the epic preliminary round of the NRW Championships!
The North Rhine-Westphalia Poetry Slam Championships are taking place this year in our district of Mettmann. The hottest stage format, featuring only the best slam poets from the wonderful state of North Rhine-Westphalia!
In the vast realm between poetry, comedy, cabaret, and prose, a scene has emerged where established stars generate internet hype, are TV personalities, and simultaneously, hungry newcomers constantly surprise and delight – all on a shared stage. Once an insider tip, this format has long since earned a reputation: Poetry Slam is a party, poetry slam is emotion, poetry slam is always absolutely unique. Here, the sheer power of words and the ecstatic performance will knock you off your feet; lyrical volleys will blast into your memory like comets, and sore laughing muscles are guaranteed. And not only that: since 2016, these modern poetry competitions have been officially recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
