Guided tour: “A wealthy bourgeois household around 1800”

Guided tour/visit
"The butter melted due to the heat..." – that can happen. Especially when the butter is traveling on a Rhine barge in the middle of summer 1817. Sophie Brügelmann was nevertheless satisfied with the quality of the butter. The daughter-in-law of the company founder, Johann Gottfried Brügelmann, not only ran the textile factory together with her brother-in-law since her husband's death, but she was also responsible for the household at Cromford Manor.
A guided tour of the exhibition in the manor house introduces visitors to the world of an upper-middle-class household around 1800 using selected objects, followed by a more in-depth discussion. Excerpts from Sophie's book of letters relating to her household management will be read aloud – revealing interesting, remarkable, and even amusing anecdotes.
