Markt
For International Museum Day on May 17, 2026, the Roman fort Haus Bürgel will be transformed into a marketplace for one day, making history tangible.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the courtyard and orchard of Haus Bürgel will be transformed into a marketplace where history comes alive. Just as the Romans once gathered in the Roman Forum to chat, trade, and barter, a market will invite visitors to browse. To complement the theme, visitors can decorate colorful fabric bags with stamps, courtesy of the Monheim Art School, to hold all their purchases. Entry to the entire grounds costs €17 per person; children under 18 are free. Additionally, a small flea market with private stalls will be set up on another meadow behind the manor house, offering secondhand goods and well-preserved treasures looking for new owners.

Visitors will once again be offered a wide range of products centered around regional farm products, local delicacies and handicrafts, while at the same time sending a message about more sustainable and regional shopping.

Please note that there is no parking available at Haus Bürgel. We therefore ask you to arrive by public transport, bicycle, or on foot.
