Outdoor tour: “Historical walk from Lower to Upper Cromford”
Where factory halls once dominated the cityscape, there are now residential buildings and extensive meadows. Today, the late baroque manor house, the high factory and some workers' apartments are the main reminders of the formerly extensive factory complex of the Cromford textile factory. In what environment was the first factory on the continent embedded and how did the district develop in its 200-year history? On a walk from Lower to Upper Cromford, along the Anger and through Poensgen Park, the eventful history of the Brügelmann family of entrepreneurs and the Cromford textile factory becomes clear. Exciting details about the factory district are waiting to be discovered.
